School Meals

Children may choose to have a school meal or bring in a packed lunch from home.

Our school meals are provided by ISS Education and are cooked on the premises.  Meals cost £2.25 per day and must be paid for in advance.  This can be paid in cash, cheque made payable to ISS Education or via their online payment system (see below).  Please make sure cash and cheques are sent in an envelope which is clearly marked with your child's name, class and amount paid.

To set up an online pre-payment account click here and follow the instructions.  Once the account is set up you will receive an email to confirm it has been activiated and that you are able to make payments onto the account.  Please note that this is a pre-payment system and not a direct debit and funds must be credited against each child's name.

ISS advise that one of their most common queries is about portion size.  They advise that their meals have been produced in line with the Government’s Food Based Standard portion guidelines, and the recipes provided to kitchens have been based on these guidelines.  To see photos of the meals they provide, please click on the relevant week below:

If your child has any special dietary needs please contact the school office/cook as menus for special diets can be provided.

If you are entitled to claim free school meals please apply online at www.westberks.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or ring West Berkshire Council on 01635 42400.

Children may bring something to eat at morning break time but this must not include chocolate, sweets or crisps.  Many children choose to bring in a piece of fruit.

Mortimer St Mary's is a nut free school and children are not allowed to bring any form of nuts to school.  This includes peanut butter, chocolate and nut spread, cereal bars or cakes containing nuts.
