Governing Board

All Schools are managed by a Governing Board, which works closely with the Headteacher and senior staff to run the school in line with DfE, Local Authority and in our case also Diocesan Guidelines.

The Governing Board is made up of volunteers who give their time and expertise free of charge to ensure that the school is run well, within budget and puts the needs and well-being of pupils and staff at the forefront. Their actions, responsibilities and legal status are prescribed within a document known as the "Instrument of Government".  Click here to view our Instrument of Government.

Details of our current governors, including their roles, declared interests and attendance at meetings, can be found below.   Click here for our governors' pen portraits including photographs.  Minutes of meetings and other documents can be found here.

The Governing Board has appointed one Associate Member who is not a governor but is someone whose expertise in a specific area would be of benefit to the Board.  Associate Members do not have voting rights, but are invited to contribute to discussions realted to their are of expertise.

The Governing Board of Mortimer St Mary's does not have a committee system and all matters are discussed by the governors at monthly meetings of the full Governing Board.  The only committees which have been set up are Pay & Personnel and Admissions. These committees meet as and when necessary.

The Governing Board produces an Annual Statement of Governance.  This document includes the governance arrangements in place and assesses the effectiveness and impact of the Governing Board.  To read the Statement for 2015/16 please click here

If you would like to find out more about the running of the school, please feel free to contact the Headteacher and/or any of the Governors. All our Governors are very approachable but you may find certain people particularly good contacts for certain matters.  For example if you are a parent with a general question or concern, you might feel most comfortable contacting a "Parent Governor". Our Chair of Governors is always happy to meet and talk with parents or other members of the local community.

If you would like to contact any of our governors please do so via Mrs Cole (Clerk to Governors) in the school office on 0118 9332491, by e-mail to office@msm.w-berks.sch.uk or if confidential please put a letter in a sealed envelope marked "private and confidential" and send it to the relevant governor care of the school office.

Our Foundation Governors are appointed by two different bodies - those appointed by the Oxford Diocese are indicated by (D) and those appointed by the Parochial Church Council are indicated by (P).  There is one foundation governor vacancy and the PCC is currently in the process of appointing someone.
